ZINC ANODES:
Zinc anodes are commonly used in vessel tanks as part of a cathodic protection to prevent corrosion. They work by acting as sacrificial anodes, meaning they corrode instead of the tank metal structure, thereby extending its lifespan.
In ballast tanks, zinc anodes are sometimes used, though aluminum anodes are often preferred due to their technical and economic advantages. However, aluminum anodes may pose a risk of sparking if they detach.
